You don’t need to prepare answers or remember everything ahead of time. Every life story film is guided gently and naturally, at a pace that feels comfortable. Some stories come easily. Others surface slowly. Both are completely okay. The purpose of this page is simply to give you a sense of the types of topics we may explore — not to create a checklist or an expectation. Nothing is required. Nothing is rushed. We follow the stories that matter most to the person being interviewed.
We often begin with light, grounding memories to help everyone settle in. Examples:
What are some of your earliest memories?
What was your family like when you were young?
Where did you grow up, and what stands out about that time?
Growing Up
This section helps place a life in context. Examples:
What was school like for you?
Who were you closest to growing up?
What did you enjoy doing as a child or teenager?
Work, Service & Daily Life
These stories often reveal values, character, and resilience. Examples:
How did you meet important people in your life?
What are some favorite family memories?
What traditions or routines were meaningful to you?
Traditions, Beliefs & Values
This is often where deeper meaning emerges. Examples:
What values were important in your home?
Are there traditions you hope continue?
What lessons did you learn over time?
Reflections & Perspective
These questions are always optional and approached gently. Examples:
What are you most proud of?
What has surprised you about life?
Are there things you hope future generations understand?
What Matters Most
Not every topic needs to be covered. Some interviews focus on early life. Others focus on family, service, or reflection. Many simply follow the stories that arise naturally. The goal is not completeness — the goal is presence, voice, and memory.
Gentle Reassurance
If someone becomes tired, emotional, or wants to pause, we pause. If a topic feels uncomfortable, we move on. Every life story is shaped around the person — not a list of questions.
If you have specific topics you’d like included, we’re always happy to discuss them ahead of time.
